I've been a professional photographer for over a decade after graduating with a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in 2005. Originally starting with a heavy concentration in documentary photo as well as teaching history of photography, my passion for capturing amazing moments spread to the world of wedding photography about 7 years ago. A couple of friends asked me to photograph their wedding and you know the saying... one thing lead to another... and here I am now shooting 30+ weddings a year. I consider myself an easy going workaholic who genuinely loves what he does: capturing lifelong memories of the happiest day of a wedding couple's lives. My wedding photography style is a combination of documentary and portraiture. I like to fall back and capture the special moments that happen organically as well as helping to pose couples for beautiful portraits.
Where do you photograph weddings?
Most of the weddings I photograph are in NJ, NYC, and the surrounding area like parts of CT, PA, and upstate NY. I do however love to travel, so if you are outside that general area please send me an email inquiry.
Do you photograph each weddings yourself?
Yes, it's called Max Wedding Photo for a reason and that is because I photograph each and every wedding I am hired for. Some wedding photography studios operate with multiple photographers with varying styles and skill sets under their studio umbrella. Working with these studios can be a gamble because you might not even know if the person you are getting to photograph your wedding is really the one whose photos you've seen or who they even are. I pride myself in photographing every single wedding I am booked for so when you book Max Wedding Photo you get Max not some random fill in.
Do I need a second photographer and if so do you offer that service?
It really depends on the wedding you are having. If it's 40 people at a restaurant, no matter what anyone tells you, you absolutely do not need a second photographer. If it's a 200 person wedding with multiple locations and a large bridal party it always helps. I do have a trusted group of photographers who work with me for wedding couples who would like to have a second shooter. So, if that is something you are thinking about definitely tell me a little more about your wedding day and we can discuss if it's a good idea for you. Second shooter add on rates are $100/hr
How do you provide our wedding photos?
Within 48 hours you get a sneak peak of 10 images. Within 6 weeks you get a full online gallery with 400 - 800 photos which you can share with your family and friends. You have full print rights for personal use which means print as many photos in whichever sizes you would like. I like to keep it simple: no extra hidden fees, no markups.
Do you offer engagement shoots?
Yes, engagement shoots are a great way for us to get to know each other, for you to get a feel for how the portraiture process works and of course to have some beautiful photos for your wedding announcement. I offer 90 minute long engagement shoots for $250.
Miscellaneous hodgepodge of photography and life fun facts about me:
I was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. I speak Russian but with a slightly embarrassing American accent. My photography has been published and exhibited in galleries around the world which is absolutely awesome, but not as awesome as taking the most important photos of a wedding couples' lives. My wife is a writer, our daughter is a 6 yr old aspiring fashion designer. We have a 15 yr old mutt named Pistol. I just won first prize in the Garden State Journalists 2018 Memorial Awards for a magazine front cover I photographed. In 2017 my photos were featured in a TED talk which has about 10 million views. I eat way too much pizza, or maybe it's not enough. I've been to all 48 continental states and would love to go to Hawaii and Alaska as well, so if you are getting married in one of those you should hire me :-)
I think it's important for a wedding couple to feel comfortable with their photographer so if you have any questions or would like to schedule a phone call / meeting, feel free to drop me a line.
